John Abbott
Chief Executive
John Abbott is a former editor at media giant Time Inc in the UK. Joining in 2009 as deputy editor of wine magazine Decanter's flagship website Decanter.com, he introduced a new stratagic focus on engaging new readers from around the world. The readership tripled and John was appointed editor in 2011, at 24 becoming the youngest editor in the company’s history.
In 2012, he led the corporate launch of Decanter into mainland China, the company’s first official foray into the Chinese mainland.
The launch and subsequent commercial success was shortlisted for outstanding global achievement at the 2013 PPA Awards.
In 2015, he founded Tiger Creative, an international digital consultancy specialising in the Chinese internet with offices in Durham, Hong Kong and Shanghai. The company became a strategic partner of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and was appointed its official digital partner in China in 2016.
After a number of successful client launches overseas, the firm was shortlisted for the Export prize at the 2017 North East Business Awards.
In early 2018, John began work on a brand new platform designed specifically to simplify the complicated and fragmented conventional process for building overseas corporate websites and brand platforms, with a special focus on lowering the barriers to entry for ambitious, earlier-stage firms looking to reach out to new markets.
The result was a technology framework that will support a company from its very first domestic corporate website, and scale upwards and outwards to encompass all its future markets, opportunities and ambitions.
